The Knights wrestling team advanced nine wrestlers to this past Saturday’s IHSAA Semi-State at Ford Center in Evansville.
The Knights finished 7-2 after the first round of wrestling with wins from Devon Casebolt (106), Baxter Annakin (113), Carson Willis (126), Austin Ramsey (138), Jacob Farmer (160), Evan Dowell (170), and Carson Mohler (182).
In the quarter finals, also known as the “ticket round” (you win this round and you punch your ticket to the State Finals), the Knights lost several extremely close matches but were still able to advance three individuals to the IHSAA State Finals at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Those wrestlers are Devon Casebolt, Baxter Annakin, and Austin Ramsey.
Both Casebolt and Annakin lost in the semis and had to wrestle for 3rd and 4th where Casebolt finished 4th and Annakin battled back to finish in 3rd place. Ramsey was the lone finalist for the Knights but was unable to capture the title losing a tough match in the finals.
The Knights finished the day in 6th place out of 55 teams with 55.5 points.
