Girls Track wins Sectional; Relay sets Record

Tuesday night at Mt. Vernon, the girls track and field team won Sectional 32. This is the fourth team title in the last five seasons for the Lady Knights. Two individuals earned sectional titles in their respective events. Junior Averi Mullins won the 1600 meter run and junior Aislynn Maldonado won the 100 meter hurdles. Two relay teams also earned first place. Maldonado was joined by Bella Cunningham, Lyla Detalente, and Jalyn Zaccardelli to win the 400 meter relay. Zaccardelli and Cunningham would combine once more to win a relay, this time in record breaking fashion. They, along with Brooklyn Lutz and Sophia Mominee, took first place in the 1600 meter relay in a new sectional 32 record time of 4:01.26. In total, 15 athletes will be representing Castle across 14 events at the regional.
