The Lady Knights competed at Regionals on Tuesday at Central Stadium. Leading the way, once again, was Gretchen Hurt. Hurt won both the shot put and discus to capture her third and fourth career regional titles. This marks the third time in Hurt's career that she has qualified for the state finals. Amaya Royal will also be competing in two events at the state meet. Royal won the 100 meter dash to capture her second career regional title. She was also able to take third place in the 200 to advance in that event as well. The Castle record holder in both the 100 and 200 will close out her career competing in both events in Bloomington for the third consecutive season. The last individual qualifier for the Lady Knights was freshman Brooklyn Lutz. Lutz battled a competitive field to take third place in the 400 meters. She will also be competing in two events in Bloomington, as she was the anchor leg of the state qualifying 1600 meter relay team. Jalyn Zaccardelli, Anna Seibert, and Isabel Land combined with Lutz to lower their season best time by eight seconds in order to take second place and advance. Other regional placers included: Hilary Cleveland (8th - Shot Put), Elsie Krodel (T-6th - Pole Vault), Isabel Land (5th - 1600), Aislynn Maldonado (6th - 100 Hurdles), Lilly Ferguson (7th - 300 Hurdles), Heidi Giannini, Lutz, Land, Seibert (7th - 3200 Relay), Castle finished in third place overall.
