Castle JV Football Tops Mater Dei 41–21 The Castle Knights JV football team continued their strong start to the season with a 41–21 victory over the Mater Dei Wildcats on Saturday morning at John Lidy Field. Sophomore quarterback Sawyer Winsett once again led the Knights’ offense, completing 8 of 12 passes for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air. Winsett also added a rushing touchdown, keeping the Wildcats’ defense off balance. Sophomore wide receiver Jaivon Aunspach showcased his big-play ability with 4 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, while also converting a key 2-point attempt. Sophomore Drew Slepsky contributed with 2 receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown, adding another reliable target in the passing game. On the ground, sophomore running back Aaron “Mo” Smith powered the Knights’ rushing attack with 14 carries for 170 yards and a touchdown. Smith also caught a touchdown pass and added a 2-point conversion, capping off a standout all-around performance. With the win, Castle’s JV squad improves its early-season momentum and looks to carry that energy into their next matchup. The Knights will be back in action on Monday, September 8th, at 6:00 PM, when they travel to take on Henderson County High School.
